Students with undergraduate or graduate backgrounds in any quantitative discipline are encouraged to apply. See the general Admissision Requirements for further information.
To guarantee full consideration, we suggest complete applications for fall admissions be received by January 15. This is especially true for those students seeking financial support or fellowships. We award fellowships and assistantships on a rolling basis, which generally means we can inform you of our decision within a short time of this date. Likewise, the suggested date for us to receive complete applications for spring admissions is August 15. No applications will be considered for fall semester admissions after May 31 and spring semester admissions after November 30.
Students are encouraged to contact potential graduate advisors in their field of interest (see Geology and Geophysics Faculty).
All accepted applicants will be given full consideration for financial support, including both research and teaching assistantships as well as fellowships. Applicants will be informed of their admission and support status within roughly two months following the recommended submission deadlines described above. Selected domestic students will also be invited to visit the department at that time.
Prospective students should complete the following:
- Review detailed application instructions online.
Domestic applicants (U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents) International applicants
