Deadlines

Rainwater collection tankPlease note deadlines vary from department to department!

Atmospheric Sciences

Atmospheric Sciences does not have a formal application deadline and applications are accepted at any time. However, to guarantee full consideration, applications for fall semester should be submitted by January 15 and applications for spring semester by October 1.

Geography

Fellowships: To be considered for fellowship opportunities, graduate applications should be submitted by January 1. The University offers two types of fellowships: Graduate Merit Fellowships and Graduate Diversity Fellowships. Both fellowship programs are restricted to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.

Assistantships: To be considered for assistantship opportunities, graduate applications should be submitted by March 1. Assistantship offers are made on March 15. Applications received after March 1 will still be eligible for assistantships during subsequent rounds of funding up until classes begin in the fall semester.

Due to the time needed to process visa applications, the university must receive all international application materials no later than February 1.

Geology and Geophysics

To guarantee full consideration, we suggest complete applications for fall admissions be received by January 15.  This is especially true for those students seeking financial support or fellowships.  We award fellowships and assistantships on a rolling basis, which generally means we can inform you of our decision within a short time of this date. Likewise, the suggested date for us to receive complete applications for spring admissions is August 15.  No applications will be considered for fall semester admissions after May 31 and spring semester admissions after November 30.

All accepted applicants will be given full consideration for financial support, including both research and teaching assistantships as well as fellowships. Applicants will be informed of their admission and support status within roughly two months of the recommended submission deadlines described above. Selected domestic students will also be invited to visit the department at that time.
